Elaine Grolla is an associate professor at the Linguistics Department at the University of Sao Paolo and a productivity researcher at the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq). Since January 2024, she serves as associate editor of the Language Acquisition journal.
She received her PhD in Linguistics from the University of Connecticut (EUA) in 2005. She was a post doc researcher at the University of Sao Paolo (2006) and at the University of Maryland, USA (2014-2015).
She is the founder and coordinator of LEAL/USP - Laboratory of Language Acquisition Studies, where she conducts research on the development of syntactic and semantic aspects of Brazilian Portuguese as a first language.
Her line of research is Studies of the processes of acquisition of languages
